Manuscript Submission & Tracking
Authors should consult the Style Guide and prepare your manuscript in one of the accepted formats (Word or TeX) . Submit the manuscript online:

Submission of a manuscript must be the original work of the author(s) and have not been published elsewhere or under consideration for another publication, or a substantially similar form in any language.
Authors are encouraged to recommend three to five individuals (including their research fields, e-mail, phone numbers and addresses) who are qualified to serve as referees for their paper.
After completing the submission process, the authors may view the current status of a manuscript at any time by entering the author center. All active papers that were submitted by the corresponding author to COL will be displayed. The Document ID number will link to a status page, which lists all activities performed on the manuscript and indicates any author actions that are pending.
Comments and Replies
Comments on articles previously published will be considered in COL.
The abstract should be brief. The comment should be substantive and collegial in tone. Polemical comments will be rejected. The main purpose of a comment should be to point out and to correct significant errors or deficiencies in papers, to clarify or to extend the implications of a paper, or to take issue with the conclusions reached. Comments whose primary purpose is to discuss issues of priority or to call attention to oversights in a reference list will generally not be considered for publication.
If a Comment is accepted for publication it will be forwarded to the authors of the article being commented on to allow them an opportunity to submit a Reply. If the Reply is accepted, both Comment and Reply will be published together in most cases. Replies are subject to the same length regulations as Comments.
Revised Manuscripts
Manuscripts returned to the author for revision should be returned to COL as quickly as possible. The decision email will include the due date for submission of the revised manuscript. Any revisions received after that date will be assigned a new received date. After revising the paper and writing a detailed reply to the reviewers with a list of changes made to the paper, the corresponding author will log onto the Author center to submit a revised manuscript and response. The editor will then make a final decision or choose to send the manuscript back to reviewers.
Accepted Manuscripts
All accepted papers are subject to editing to ensure readability and conformity to COL style. Authors will receive page proofs of their papers; typically, authors are prompted by e-mail with a PDF proofs attachment. Page proof corrections should be returned the COL Editorial as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours of receipt and preferably by e-mail, to avoid publication delays.
