Special Issue on Terahertz Technologies and Applications(Feature Issue)

Chinese Optics Letters (COL) invites original manuscript submissions for a Special Issue on Terahertz Technology and Applications to be published in November 2011. Terahertz radiation, defined in the frequency range of 0.1 – 10 THz, has been exploited to demonstrate unique properties that do not apply to the adjacent electromagnetic waves, such as infrared and microwave. Recent advances in terahertz science and technology hold promise for a wide variety of essential applications, particularly in spectroscopy, sensing, imaging, non-destructive detections, and communications. We invite researchers in this rich field and related ones to contribute original research articles as well as review articles to stimulate the continuing rapid growth of terahertz research. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: o Terahertz sources, detectors, and systems o Spectroscopy, sensing, and imaging using terahertz radiation o Novel terahertz phenomena, including plasmonics, metamaterials, and nonlinear photonics o Terahertz devices and components, such as waveguides, photonic crystals, and novel ones o Advances in terahertz communications o Progress in terahertz applications
